Chiefs of Party or Country Directors are the ultimate risk owners for field operations. Their role is pivotal in terms of identifying, evaluating and addressing humanmade threats and natural disasters, building the risk management and business continuity standards and practices needed to control risks for their operating area and activities, and in leading the immediate and long-term response to risks which threaten people, operations, facilities, assets and information; and critically, in protecting the wider business interests and reputation of their organization.  These senior leaders also direct security professionals or focal points in the day to day management of security and safety activities, and so need to have a strong basis of understanding of security risk management. And, the role is often responsible for the safety of staff during travel, including ensuring effective road safety measures are in place.
