A threatening phone call, whether it is aimed at an individual, group, organization or site, presents both physical and psychological risks. Whether the threat is real or a hoax, it must be treated seriously, and may lead to enhanced security measures, partial or full evacuations, site lockdowns, and the involvement of external stakeholders. Often identifying the perpetrator can be difficult, while the impacts to the individual and wider organization can be significant.
