Suspect devices may be an innocent item mistaken for a threat, or could present an explosive hazard perpetrated by terrorists, criminals or those suffering from mental health problems. Hoax devices may also be planted to cause fear and disruption. Whether a real or perceived threat, organizations must take a potential threat seriously to prevent injuries, deaths and property damage. Responses can be complex and highly disruptive and involve a multi-stakeholder approach.
