People go missing for many reasons. The individual may forget to check in, may have abused alcohol or drugs, may be sick or injured, may have mental health problems, may have been detained by customs or police officials, may have been involved in an accident, or may have been kidnapped or killed. The ability to identify and confirm the situation, locate the missing person, and effect their recovery can be a complex and high-stress situation.
