GL001_English: Planning and Conducting Effective Meetings
Meetings are opportunities for information to be gathered, relationships to be built, plans to be developed, resources and support to be garnered, for understandings to be clarified, and for actions to be taken. Meetings consume a significant amount of time and energy, and can often result in limited or weak outcomes. Poor planning, a lack of understanding as to the goals and objectives of the meeting, limited time and focus on preparation, and a failure to generate interest, connectivity and interest from within a participant group can often lead to failure. Meetings should be well planned, have clear goals, and should ultimately focus on getting things done! Being able to understand the types of meetings which might be conducted, how to plan for and conduct them, the influences of culture, and to balancing the application of limited time is critical for a positive and meaningful outcome to be achieved.
