Where people work, travel to or live in areas which are the home to poisonous snakes the risk of a snake bite can be serious. By understanding where snakes live, when they are most active, and how to avoid them the chances of being bitten can be greatly reduced. Where a snake bite does occur then it is important to understand the self-help measures which need to be applied before professional medical help becomes available. Snake bite awareness and response is an important part of personal safety, especially within rural areas with high grass, streams, rivers and dense forests, but can also be important in your back garden.
