Whether an individual has committed a crime or has been targeted by corrupt law enforcement officials the organization may have a responsibility to respond to an arrest and detention situation, seeking appropriate treatment and legal counsel for the individual. Where the rule of law is weak, and where conditions in prison present a physical or significant psychological risk, then the timely and effective response to an arrest is critical.
