Office receptionists are often the first line of defense within organizations as the point of entry both from a physical as well as general communications perspective. As such, they may receive aggressive and threatening phone calls, have to identify and manage suspicious people, parcels and letters, and they may need to reduce tensions and resolve conflicts with aggressive visitors. Receptionists are also a permanent part of an office team, offering continuity and an identifiable presence to tactically manage emergency situations, whether a security threat, medical emergency or natural disaster.
