The selection of hotels historically has not taken security into account, rather hotel selection has more frequently been based on location, amenities, prestige and price. Increasingly hotels (and the events they host) have been susceptible to attacks from terrorist groups, or have been located in proximity to other infrastructure which has been subject to hostilities. As such, having a sensible and systematic methodology for selecting hotels, taking into account activity needs as well as security is increasingly important.
