Organizational duty of care toward employees is understood as being a primary obligation – both explicit and ethically and morally implicit – of employers. The actions of individual staff members, however, will be of equal importance in avoiding situations where conflict has the potential to arise and, where it does, to defuse the potential for conflict to escalate or, if necessary, to disengage from the conflict quickly.
