S014_English: Medical Emergency Response and Reporting Protocols
A medical emergency situation can occur anywhere, at any time – whether during travel, at the office, during social activities, or at home. Being able to quickly respond to a life-threatening situation, and to stabilize the casualty and report their condition and medical needs quickly and effectively to first responders can make the difference between a life and death situation. Medical emergencies may only affect one person, they may impact a small group, or it may be a mass casualty event. Having some basic principles to apply during a high stress and life-threatening situation focuses the attention of those dealing with an emergency, and provides a road map and confidence during a crisis.
