SDT005_Spanish: Motorcyclists Safe Driver Program

Those operating motorbikes or mopeds are inherently more at risk than vehicle operators as they travel without the protective metal shell of a vehicle. Motorbike operators are also harder to see, and are exposed to adverse weather conditions. In addition, the stability of two wheeled vehicles is inherently less than those with four wheels, especially on uneven or slippery road surfaces. As such, motorbike operators must be more situationally aware and diligent than their car driving counterparts. An accident which would only damage a car, may kill a motorcyclist. By understanding the risks, wearing the right equipment, having a greater situational awareness, spotting and managing blind spots, approaching junctions, traffic lights and traffic merging points with greater awareness, creating maximum visibility, overtaking vehicles in a safe and aware manner, and positioning your vehicle in the safest spot then you can significantly reduce the chances of a serious or fatal accident from occurring.
