Earthquakes can have devastating impacts upon people, businesses and communities, occurring as frequent or cyclic risks, but also with unprecedented events which only occur infrequently, but with devastating implications. Earthquakes can cause injuries, property damages, fires, bridge and tunnel collapses, and result in secondary risks such as pandemics, elevated crime rates and civil disorder.
