Volcanic Eruptions can have devastating impacts upon people, businesses and communities, occurring as frequent or cyclic risks, but also with unprecedented events which only occur infrequently, but with devastating implications. Volcanic eruptions can cause lava flows and explosive projectile hazards, forest and bush fires, ash clouds which cause inhalation hazards, building fires, and can disrupt land and air travel. This mini brief is designed to quickly elevate the levels of staff knowledge and awareness on this threat area, and to provide simple and easy methods to confidentially prepare for, and effectively [self-help] respond to any emergency situation which may occur.
